A Professional Association

The Canadian Bookkeepers Association (CBA) is a national, not-for-profit organization committed to the advancement of professional bookkeepers. Membership in the CBA provides bookkeepers with the resources to succeed in an ever changing environment. Our association supports the business development and ongoing education of its members by providing bookkeepers with a forum to learn from their peers across the country and also currently directing our members to affordable resources, country wide, to assist them in their quest for recognition as a professional in the business environment.

History

The Canadian Bookkeepers Association was formally known as the Canadian Bookkeepers Alliance. CBA began accepting members in early 2003. In February 9, 2004 the Canadian Bookkeepers Association was incorporated as a not-for-profit association.  Over the years it has endured growing pains, the ever changing bookkeeping industry and trying to maintain facilitating the members needs and wants.  This is constantly changing as the face of how business is delivered in Canada and around the world is constantly changing and it is a challenge to “keep up” with how those changes relate to this profession.

Future Goals

We are committed to growth that benefits our members and Bookkeeping in Canada as a professional discipline. Our goals include advances in Distance Education, Licensing of Bookkeepers, and Regional Chapters, to name a few. We are moving forward to further assist the bookkeeping profession in Canada!  We have our RPB™ (Registered Professional Bookkeeper™).  This was a major accomplishment for us.  We have had dialogues with lawyers and accountants about how their designation works for them.
