Multi-factor authentication (MFA) is a security measure added to CRA sign-in services to further protect taxpayer information. All users are required to use MFA when accessing our sign-in services. Throughout the implementation of MFA, we’ve continued to add new features to improve the user experience.

As of February 7, 2022, we introduced a new MFA exemption feature throughout our sign-in services. When signing in, you can now suspend the MFA requirement for a period of 8 hours. This will allow you to subsequently access your account more quickly after you’ve successfully completed MFA. To use this new feature, when prompted, simply click “Do not ask me to input a one-time passcode for the next eight hours when I sign in using this device”.
